Stand Up Paddle Board Outings are back! Well...almost ( :
As the water temps are slowly creeping back up, we are gearing up.
With the growing popularity of SUP, we've had a ton of requests for some form of introduction into the sport.....enter, the ACK SUP Outings! Whether it's your first time and you need a little help with getting started, or you've been there/done that and just want some people to paddle with....all are welcome!
For now, the SUP outings will be every TUES evening starting on TUES 5/15. Soon thereafter, we will add a second outing each week on Thursdays. PLEASE arrive between 5:00 and 5:30 to get signed in. We'll head down to the water at about 5:45. The average outing is around 1.5 hours.
If you have your own board and gear, just come on by and join in. If you need to rent a board, ACK has some great boards available for $30 for the duration of the outing.
Reservations are required. Please call on the day of to confirm your reservation. 410-263-2303

Are you properly prepared for the current water temps?
There are many safety considerations involved with paddling, and one of the most important for paddling in the colder months would have to be dressing to swim. As unlikely as an accidental capsize may seem to many paddlers....we suggest you play it safe and "dress to swim!"
Spring can be one of the most tricky times of year for paddlers in our area. While we may have days that are warm and sunny in March and April, the water temps still have yet to catch up. Make sure that you are paying attention to water temps, not just air temps.
To check the conditions and water temps on the Chesapeake, visit THIS site for readings from the NOAA Weather Buoy at Thomas Point Light House.
To help keep you safe and prepared, ACK offers wet suits, dry suits, first layer wear, jackets, shoes, gloves, and more from Kokatat, NRS, Chota, SealSkinz, and more.

A big Thank You to John, Jeff, and Melissa at Annapolis Harbor Boat Yard! What an amazing learning experience to have their expert advice and skill right at our side. Thanks also go to all who brought their boats for us to work on and, of course, to Lee for the grilling magic!

Official Boaters Guide to the Captain John Smith Chesapeake National Historic Trail
Now you can explore the Chesapeake Bay as Captain John Smith did it—by boat. But you’ll have the advantage of an expert guide who has “hindsight.” Let John Page Williams take you on a journey along the waterways traveled by Smith and discover the special places Smith described and how remarkably the same—or different—these places are today.
